In the contemporary world with technological advancements and better health system, people are expecting to live longer than their ancestors. This phenomenon of long life is not entirely erroneous. Is it quite advantageous for the population to have longer lives or are there many drawbacks associated with it? So, many pros and cons of this process will be discussed below.
Nowadays, the long and healthy life is possible because of many factors such as better health facilities, advanced medications, and clean food sources. In this way, by getting benefits from these facilities, people have more chances to live longer than their older generation. For instance, in USA, Japan and China, many high grade cancers and ailments are being treated by extraordinary medicines and surgeries.
There are many advantages associated with long age such as the older people could stay with their families for a longer periods of time. They not only could see their children succeed in their lives but also get to enjoy their lifestyle much better. Additionally, in spite of old age, the older people could go with their loveones to the places of their dreams as they got all the time in the world.
However, advancing age and older population are not without many negative aspects. Firstly, increasing number of elderly are populating the world. For example, in Japan, about two-third of population is comprised of the elder people. This has led to a fewer number of individuals available for work, thus affecting the overall economy of a country. Secondly, despite having all the freedom of the world, the elderly are still not being respected at all by the younger masses.
To conclude, the medicinal and surgical revolution have markedly increased the age of an individual. Yet, this is associated with as many cons as pros. Clearly, it is a double edged sword, therefore, age should neither be too long nor too short.
