In the contemporary world with global civilization and technological advancement, the very system of education has been revolutionized. Now, the basic learning environment depends upon multiple aspects of one’s ideas, concepts and imagination rather then the simple memorization. Therefore, according to me, memoriztion is not that important in success rather there are other factors which are also very crucial in the path of success.
Firstly, proper imagination and innovative minds are very crucial in the learning process. Without them, cramming every fact would lead to a shallow mind which understands little and drains gradually over the time. For instance, during my university days, the most successful students were those who read the literature, used their ideas and explain writings in their own words. They performed proper research. In the same way, Newton, Einstein and other scientists have succeeded in their lives, such students would have also been the most successful in their lives.
Secondly, remembering and understanding facts are paramount to just retaining them. In simpler words, the concepts are supreme in the studying process. For example, during my school days, students were more inclined towards cramming books. They did not really get the ideas behind the topic. Therefore, in examination, brains of such teenagers drained leading them to fail their tests.
In contrast, I am not entirely against the whole phenomenon of memorizing facts. There are certain studies where one has to remember principles and management plans. For example, in Medicine profession, doctors much retain as much knowledge as possible to properly treat their patients in the emergency situations. But concepts and ideas behind such management plans are cruicial and helpful in long-term memorization.
In conclusion, memorizing facts are important but concepts and ideas behind such facts are more crucial and prime for successful education and learning.
