There is an opinion about modern society that people are more interested in themselves, it’s hard for them to share things and be more involved in the lives of others. They suggest getting back to old morals, where we take care of old people and close ones, which helps to make a better world. I’am partly agree with this opinion.
First of all, nowadays we live in a capitalistic world. The rent is less affordable, prices are high and salaries can’t cover these expenses sometimes. There is a survey that most of the generation Z can’t afford property and most likely they will never buy it. So these factors make the idea of “getting back to traditional values” not possible. Most young people live in big cities such as New York, Los-Angeles, Paris, Berlin etc. They leave their hometown to settle down in a new place which takes a lot of time and savings. SO basically they have to think about themselves , more than others. And I think it is totally okay.
I think following the traditional values is also a part of mentality and nationality. There are more than one hundred countries. That means that they have their own history, traditions and culture. For example in Muslim countries it’s important to take care of elderly people, young people are not trying to move out from their home – it’s important to always be close with your family. But in Western societies like the USA and Europe there are less traditions like that. Young members of the family try to move out as soon as possible and visit their families only 2-3 times a year.
In conclusion I’d Like to say that there are several factors that affect society. Traditional values have different contexts in America, Asia, Europe etc.For many, life has become more expensive and therefore they have to think more about themselves and their future than about others. And I think it’s important to find balance in those things. Always find time for people close to you, but at the same time value yourself and your life.
