Many people may find that the internet has harmed this generations due to the inability to learn communication skills from the overall decreased social gatherings. I, on the other hand, believe that the breakthrough of technology helped strengthen and maintain relationships by allowing long-distance interactions which previously were too difficult.
Nowadays, people are maintaining tight schedules and numerous responsibilities in a single day. For that reason, since a simple text or short call can relay an urgent message it is best that they avoid unnecessary social plans. With the diminishing tradition of real-life gatherings, many are losing social skills: what once was believed to be crucial for success. For instance, majority of employers in a particular big name tech company in the US are known to be awkward and antisocial, as they do not participate with meetings face-to-face. However, I think that an individual’s behavior in eye-to-eye meetings should not determine their value, as they may be much more competent in other forms of communication. The younger generations are much more comfortable in using all sorts of devices to stay in contact with peers, friends, and family. In fact, these young adults would credit the internet for their social circles. Universities in Sudan have students of varying ages that used the internet to creat support groups for national board exams as well as other small communities.
In conclusion, I stronly agree with the latter statement that technology has brought multiple benefits to society in terms of bonding and forming relationships.
