The era of occupations is drastically changing. It is difficult for workers to depend on staying in the same job or workplace for their entire life. This is mostly due to the many advancements that our world is experiencing, including ones that could possibly take away our jobs.
Firstly, we must take into consideration that artificial intelligence is one of the most rapidly evolving pieces of technology on the plant. At the rate that currently is, there is little to no doubt that one day A.I could very possibly be an alternative for human labor. If that day comes, depending on what type of job the A.I can do, humans who work that certain job should be prepared to either share working conditions with literal robots, or find a new job elsewhere.
Additionally, even if A.I won’t be able to work human jobs (which is highly unlikely), being in the same work environment for too long can be bad for your mental health. It gets repetitive and boring, especially if it’s a job that you don’t really enjoy much or if it’s in a place that makes you feel uncomfortable in any sort of way. Some employees who find their job difficult are also at risk of potentially being fired if they keep failing to do their tasks properly. Which means that humans must be ready to face any sort of obstacle in their work environment and be ready to find an alternative job.
Having a backup plan if one job doesn’t work out ensures that employees have flexibility in choosing their working conditions. Some jobs do not pay enough; financially struggling humans sometimes work more than one job, which is also a change in the current world of work.
In conclusion, the world of work is changing due to advancements that are being made, underpayments, different daily patterns for different employees, etc. Being ready to transfer to another work branch/location or applying for a completely different job are just some ways that people can prepare for work in the future, especially but not limited to when it comes to jobs that are easy for AIs to do.
