Frankly for me, I definitely disagree with the idea of eliminating non-academic subjects, such as physical education (PE) and cookery from the official school syllabus prior to the expectations of children attaining academic success. Since the roots of education are acknowledging kids about the world around them, and assisting them reaching better lives with less insignificant challenges, education should not go from theories to theories but also the reality of daily basis things everyone must go through.
Firstly, education shall inform students about what actually is the right lifestyle. For instance, education must be able to tell pupils about what a healthy life is and how to reach that ideal way of living. Hence, cooking and PE are clearly must-have subjects giving children tools for attaining independent lives – the actual healthy lifestyle for all generations.
Secondly, if only academic will be taught at school, the problem of developing numerous of scientists without real-life skills will be triggered where people only care about nonstop reading and studying without happiness and healthiness. For example, nonstop learning without cooking skills will gradually make people forget having meals, hence, affecting their health. This is actually a logical case since when people only concentrate in working without the knowledge of self-love and the daily skills such as cooking, they tend to sacrifice meals for work-related purposes. Then, with such a high number of unhappy, unhealthy population, the fundamental purposes of education are clearly ignored by the systems. Hence, an education with only academic-related subjects tends not to attain the primary needs of education.
In a nutshell, education has not only been about developing knowledgable students, but more than that, it must also provide necessary survival skills for children to take care of themselves.
