Some people believe that the benefits and drawbacks of biotech food are numerous. While biotech foods have several detrimental shortcomings, I believe that the merits of biotech food are more significant.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that there are numerous disadvantages of biotech food. To begin with, biotech foods bring about some environmental risks. This is because GM crops are being developed and released before they have been adequately tested. For example, the introduction of genetically modified crops with pest-resistant traits may unintentionally harm beneficial insects or disrupt the natural ecosystem and contaminate non-genetically modified crops. Furthermore, it causes unexpected consequences. This means that when genes are moved across different species, it leads to the possibility of unexpected health effects. For instance, some GM foods for a long time cause allergies, especially cancer. As a result, biotech foods may carry risks for many people.
On the other hand, I firmly believe that the drawbacks are more significant. Firstly, biotech foods are better safe for humans. This is because genetically modified foods have the same nutritional value as organic foods. For instance, golden rice is a GM that helps people anti-hunger and provides vitamin A, which is an essential substance for bodies. Secondly, it has many environmental benefits. This means that when using GM foods, are environmentally friendly and good for land. This could be explained by the fact that some GM foods produce natural pesticides, which only harm insects. As a result, some farmers can avoid the risk of poison.
In conclusion, although the downsides of biotech foods can pose a risk to people, I believe that they bring many benefits to humans.
