In contemporary era, university education still plays an undoubtable role in the life and career of young people. While the traditional methods of entering a university still work out smoothly, there exists a contention of the inclusion of international foreign language certificates into the admission of students into university. This essay contends that whereas the acquisition of language certificates is actually in people’s interests, it simultaneously poses problems to others as well.
To begin with, in the era of globalization and integration into the world, a good command of multiple languages unquestionably enhances the efficacy of the development of a society, and a country as a whole. This knowledge serves as an invaluable bridge so that people can cooperate alongside with instantaneous communication. As a result, entry into university with international foreign language certificates as a criterion may be beneficial for universities since they possess potential students for further steps in the future.
Moreover, given the harshness of acceptance into some universities might engender a host of challenges to a group of people, language certificates as one of the criteria for admission can be conducive for students who could barely meet the standards of entry.
