Some argue that reading books is more educational than watching videos or TV. I completely agree that books provides more valuable skills than videos or television, for the reason that by reading books more understanding about a variety of topic can be gained and critical thinking can be developed .
Firstly, a book is much more complete than any other material available nowadays. Meaning that, many events and facts are explain in more details than in a video. For instance, if a student wanted to learn about certain history event, reading a history book would help him grasp the concepts better. On the contrary, waching the same topic in a video would no be too benefitial, because most of the time key features are omitted to make the more attractive.
Additionally, by reading books the critical thinking of the human brain can be developed. It is widely known that children who have read books since a very young age are more able to discuss challenging topics.
On the onter hand, many times the light of those devices used to watch videos are likely to cause eye damage in the long run, such as vision problems. The more time is spend on videos rather than reading, the more severe the damage can be. Also, many students prefer to spend hours searching for shorter explanations about a difficult subject, and therefore there are less competent after graduation. Even though videos can make a life of a student easier, it make learners less educated.
To sum up, I would argue that reading is essential to have a well-educated society
