In this contemporary society, differences have been observed in youth, when compared to their parents and grandparents in terms of ideas and attitudes. These differences are referred as ‘Generation Gaps’. In this essay, I will elaborate more on reasons responsible for these differences and steps that can be undertaken to bridge the gap between two generations.
To commence with, there are myriad arguments that can be offered for this soaring concern. The most cardinal one is youngsters are more exposed to the latest technology. Moreover, they have more knowledge about using electronic devices in their daily life. While parents and grandparents prefer experience over technology. Additionally, education in school are updated over a period of time, where syllabus are based on recent developments. This advancement of technology and educational differences plays a crucial role in creating differences of opinion.
Furthermore, parents and grandparents are more interested in cultural, traditional, and religious believes. They want their children to be in touch with their traditions and force them to perform rituals even if they are not interested. Moreover, parents are busy with their work life, they don’t have enough time to spend with their children. Consequently, youngsters consider social life as well as internet as their best partner and start spending more time with electronic gadgets. Last but not least, they consider ideas from their parents and grandparents are old school and cannot be implemented in today’s life.
Steps to deal with this problem are many, the most effective ones are not to be remote or complicated, but accessible and practicable. The most preponderant one is that parents should start spending more time with their children. This will not only lead to sharing of ideas between them but also provides a bridge to alleviate the problem of miscommunication. Secondly, youth should aid parents to get comfortable in using latest electronic devices like mobiles and computers. Parents should find an interesting way to make kids more focused on ideas they want them to inculcate in their life.
In light of consideration, education and technology are the key elements for differences but if they are used wisely it can proved to be useful in bridging the gap between them.
