Overall, there was an increase in people who visited the UK for business, holiday, meeting friends and relatives.
There was a dramatical increase in the foreign vistors that came to the UK for holiday. Starting at 6.5 million people go on holiday in this country, it bottomed at 9 millions in 1994. 5 years later, the inhabitants went to the UK for vacations has a gradual decline and continued to fall to the ordinary number – 6.5 millions. The number of tourists gone up from 6.5 millions to 9 millions between 2004 and 2009 and it was the highest number of visitors who travelled to the UK for specific purposes.
Similarily, the visitors coming to the US for business and meetinng friends or relatives also had a significant increase. The number of people who visited the UK grew significantly from 5 million to 7 million between 1989 and 2009. Then, the tourists having a trip to meet friends or relatives also rose by 2.5 million people from 1989 to 2009.
