Zoos stood at nearly 4 million visitors in 1980, declined until 2000, then returned to around the same amount as 1980 in 2015. Museums saw a steady decline from a little more than 4 million in 1980, all the way to slightly above 2 million in 2015.
Parks had almost 5 million visitors in 1980, and experienced a steady and significant rise up to around 9 million in 2015. While aquariums did not see as much of a rise as parks, it still held the top spot for guest counts in every recorded years. The number started at nearly 8 million in 1980, increased until 1995, then dropped slightly in 2000 before resurging to a highest of slightly above 9 million tourists.
