People have different views on how the elderly can adapt to the modern world, some are of the idea that in these times, getting older is completely hard, while others believe that it is a lot easier than how it was in older times. I strongly believe that nowadays, life is much better than how it was in the past for elderly individuals.
It is true that the elderly face a lot of problems in the world now, such as how to deal with technology and trying to keep family ties as they were before. The evolution that the population has gone through happened too fast in the eyes of our seniors, using mobile phones for everything can face quite a challenge for them, as they are not familiar with the technology. Furthermore, young people are so occupied with work and friends that they can hardly find any time for their parents or grandparents. Due to these issues, loneliness poses a significant threat for the older generation.
Although there are many issues, there’s one advantage that makes up for the isolation that elders have to go through and that is assisted living homes. Assisted living homes are designed for senior citizens that need assistance with some daily activities, these homes make life much easier for seniors considering that they can be among their peers. This helps them make friends and have people to talk to due to family members not being available, also, their children or siblings can visit them whenever they wish.
In conclusion, there are pros and cons to the modern world and how the older generation is trying to adapt to it. Advances in technology make it harder for them, however being among peers such as in homes makes up for it. I support the idea that during these times, life is not as difficult for the elderly as it used to be.
