The line graph illustrates the proportion of families with various technologies in America between 1995 and 1999, such as washing machines, computers, and phones.
Overall, it can be easily seen that the washing machine is the frontrunner with the highest proportion of households used until the end compared to the others, from 60% in 1995 to 80% in 1999. The second-highest percentage of families owned a computer at the beginning, there is a steady increase from 40% to the end of 60%.
However, the phone’s proportion has dramatically gone up to be the second-highest since 1996, and well over the computer at the end of 1998. It begins with 18% to the end of around 65%, rising 47% during the 4 years.
In contrast, there was a significant decrease in the percentage of households that used DVD players in 1996 and a gradual rise since that time. As shown in the graph, the proportion of families using the Internet was the lowest in 1995, beginning at 10% and ending at 50%.
