The line graph illustrates the percentage of visitors to four places in Edinburgh, including the aquarium, castle, zoo, and festival, over a 30-year period. It is clear that while the proportion of people visiting the castle and zoo witnessed an upward trend, the opposite was true for the aquarium and festival. In addition, it is notable that the castle was the most popular tourist attraction for most of the period.
In 1980, the percentage of people who chose to visit the castle was about 25%. After the following 25 years, this figure went on to rise significantly and attained its highest point of around 45% in 1995. Since then, it experienced a steady decline to approximately 35% in 2010. The figure for the zoo also increased to 20% despite minor fluctuations around 10% to 15% between 1980 and 1995.
Looking at the other attractions, the proportion of travelers paying a visit to the aquarium stood at 20% in the first examined year. In 1985, it reached its peak of roughly 35%, which was the highest point of that year. However, after that, this figure fell considerably to below 10% in 2010. The figure for the festival also saw a gradual decrease throughout the period. It reclaimed the highest point at about 30% in 1980, but then declined moderately to nearly 25% at the end of the period.
