From this point, the import figures from Australia rocketed to peak at approximately 7500 NZ$ million in 2000 and 2001. There was a fluctuation for its data in the next period before ending at 8000 NZ$ million in 2004.
As to New Zealand imports from Japan, starting from 3000 NZ$ million, it then doubled to reach its highest point in 1997. In the next period, the rate fluctuated and decreased considerably to 2000 NZ$ million in 2004.
