The line graph provides information about New Zealand’s imports from Japan and Australia from 1994 to 2004, presented in millions of New Zealand dollars.
Overall, there was an increasing rate of imports from both countries during the first three years of the study. However, a contrasting trend emerged by the end of the study period. It is also notable that both countries experienced their lowest rate of imports in 1999.
In detail, at the beginning of the study in 1994, New Zealand imported approximately $4,000 million worth of goods from Australia. This figure continued to rise until 1996, reaching about $6,000 million, which was $2,000 million higher than in 1994. However, the following years saw a decrease, and by 1999, imports had fallen to around $3,000 million, the lowest rate during the study. In 2000, imports from Australia surged to more than half of the 1999 level. The fluctuations continued until imports peaked at about $8,000 million in 2004.
On the other hand, New Zealand’s imports from Japan began at $3,000 million and showed a consistent increase until 1997, where they recorded their highest rate, approximately twice the initial amount. In the remaining seven years of the study, the data illustrated fluctuations, with the lowest rate recorded in 2004 at around $2,000 million.
