Education plays vital role in shaping both individuals and societies. After Covid pandemic in 2020, many schools all around the world has developed online delivery modules for their academic education. This trend is becoming extremely popular for several reasons. Both advantages and disadvantages of this will be discussed further.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that online education is beneficial in many ways. Firstly, because of not requiring to travel to the schools and colleges, student can attend the lectures virtually from anywhere in the world. This allows international students to not spend thousands of dollars to travel to the different countries in order to complete the required education. This helps to reduce the financial barriers and would increase global literacy. For instance, some of the remote villages in the Africa are adopting an online study module which is highly contributing to the social development. Secondly, studying online also saves a lot of travel time that could be contributed to other activities such as sports, drama and extra curricular activities. Lastly, government could save a large amount of finances by not requiring to spend on educational infrastructure.
On the other had, if all educational institutes adopt the online delivery method then it could lead to various negative effects. First and foremost, many skill trades do require in person training and special supervision. It is essential to keep these courses offline as it could lead to potential danger if student try to learn everything by watching videos. For instance, an Electricity student should only learn about high voltage components in safe and supervised area to prevent any accidents and injury. Moreover, for many subjects it is desirable to have proper equipment and infrastructure. In addition, by going to schools and colleges, students learn social and communicational skills which also pivotal in their development.
In conclusion, while having online education system can be beneficial financially for the foreign individuals and local government, it is highly desirable to keep the in-person engagement for safety and supervision as well as better development of the students.
