Band 7+: As major cities around the world are growing, so are their problems. What are these problems for young people living in cities? What are possible solutions for these problems?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In contemporary society, there is an ongoing debate about the potential concerns relating to an increasing urge to settle down in big cities. In this essay, I am going to explain several problems and suggest some measurements to address them.

To begin with, overpopulation and pollution are two main drawbacks of this tendency. In terms of population density, it can cause accommodation shortage and a lack of job opportunities. For example, Ha Noi – one of the most populated cities in Viet Nam, accounting for approximately 10% of the total population. As a result, it may lead to expensive housing prices and an increase in the unemployment rate. Moreover, pollution can pose risks to residents’ health, such as asthma or respiratory diseases. In fact, big cities tend to struggle with air pollution due to a considerable amount of toxic gases from numerous plants and vehicles. This, in turn, negatively affects the citizens’ physical health as well as their mental condition.

However, there are several solutions to tackle this issue. Firstly, the government should subsidize rural industries to alleviate the burden on cities. By allocating money to the countryside, they can encourage inhabitants to stay here due to the numerous available jobs. In relation to pollution concerns, organizations should launch some campaigns about the environmental situation. For instance, schools can hold annual clean-up activities for students in order to stimulate better hygiene awareness among the dwellers. Finally, individuals should be responsible for their living areas by stopping littering everywhere and using sustainable materials instead of nylon.

In conclusion, the desire to live in major cities can result in crowded population density as well as environmental issues. Nevertheless, by implementing the campaigns above, people can tackle this phenomenon.
