The given graph illustrates the proportion of households that were equipped with various goods between 2001 and 2008.
Overall, nearly all items show an upward trend except for telephone which had a slight reduce in percentage of households with items during the period of time. Besides that, some items had low rates at the first year ended up with significant increases such as mobile phone, internet, and dishwasher.
In terms of communication and entertainment equipment, in 2001, telephone accounted for the highest percentage at 95%, following by a mild decrease of 5% in 2008. In contrast with mobile phone, which was low rate in the fist year then sky rocketed to 80% in the next eight years. CD player initially made up for 70% in 2001, after that this item underwent a reasonable rise to 90% in the end of the period. Home computer surprisingly doubled it’s percentage from 40% to 80% in 8 years. There were also observed the 6th times rise of Internet from 10% to 60%.
Regarding other household appliances, microwave experienced a little increase of 10% from 80% to 90% and clothes dryer also rose of 10% from 60% to 70% in the given period of time. However, dishwasher showed a substantial upward trend from 10% in 2001 to 40% in 2008.
