The given pictures illustrate the way in which Liverton docks have changed and developed for residential, tourism, cultural, and recreational purposes between 1980 and today.
Looking at the illustration, it is immediately evident that some old features were still there, whereas others such as ships and cranes had all gone. Additionally, over the period the area has undergone a dramatic transformation with several large changes including new infrastructure, housing area, and amenities.
In 1980, several warehouses and cranes were located on both sides of the river so structures were associated with loading and unloading ships, which were also visible at the docks. Today the warehouses on the northern side were demolished to make way for new community facilities, such as an education centre, a sailing club, and a kid playing area. On the southern side, the old warehouse was also taken down and replaced by a hotel, apartment blocks, and a parking area.
A ship museum has been added near the center of the area, where ships used to dock. A bridge is constructed across the river, linking both sides of the development. A flood Barrier is erected near the coast to protect the area, and a riverside walk is created for pedestrians on the southern bank.
