1. The two bar charts illustrate the percentage of pupils aged 14 to 16 who studied a foreign languge in an English speaking nation in 1984 and 2007, and also give the popularity of the top three languages studied during the same period.
Overall, it is clear that more girls than boys studied foreign languages, and the propotion of both students of genders tend to slightly decrease in over the period. Additionally, French was the most popular languge that learners are into studying compared with another two languages.
Regarding the first bar chart, the fingure of female student studied a foreign language acounted for around 50% in 1984, before falling to 40% in 2007. The number of male students began lower at 30%, and then dropped to end at approximately 25%.
Next, French reached its initial value of 50% while 20% of German and under 10% of Spanish in 1984. In 2007, the rate of pupils who studied French significantly decreased, by 25% and the propotion of students who learned German dropped to around 15%. However, the number of learners who studied Spanish saw an increase around 10%.
