In this contemporary era, technology becomes the most important part of mankind, even involving education. The e-learning,thus, is increasing in popularity year-by-year. I will discuss pros and cons of this and state my viewpoint at the end of the essay.
Online learning has its own benefits . For one, the convenience is the most widespread reason to studying remotely. The student can choose the time to study as there is no appointed time to attend the class. In addition, there is no long hours travelling to a physical location for a student who lives far away. For another, the online classes are more affordable because it saves a lot of money spent on daily basis. Average student’s expenditures involves travel costs, books and supplies and lunch.
On the other hand, this type of education has also the drawbacks. Firstly, the virtual education is prone to technical issues. Despite the development of technologies, they often break down, affecting the lesson by disrupting it. For example, the internet can disconnect or there can be issues with audio or video. Secondly, the virtual learning means additional training for tutors. It is important for instructors to have a deep understanding of technology as to make the lesson more productive. This also takes effort and time of tutors for adapting in such environment.
In conclusion, the e-learning has its plus points like the affordability and flexibility of it. However, the technical issues and additional training makes it labour-demanding. I think that the e-learning is a good choice for students who are self-disciplined and willing to study in that environment.’
