Overall, there is an upward trend for both the UK and Germany in the period given, whilst the proportion of France decreased gradually.
In 2005, the recycling rates of the UK and Germany were 35% and 20% respectively. The proportion of recycling waste in the UK increased to 40% in 2007 and stayed constant until 2009. Over the next two years, the rate rose sharply to approximately 55% and continued to reach its highest point (60%) in 2015. Regarding Germany, it followed a dramatic increment and the rate was about 55% at the end of the period.
On the other hand, France constituted the highest proportion (50%) among the three countries at the beginning of the period. However, it declined dramatically to 30% in 2013 and then increased gradually to 40% in 2015. Furthermore, France’s recycling rate was the lowest at the end of the period.
