Many argue that students are required to study a wide range of subjects, while others believe they should be focusing only on the subjects they are talented or invested in. While there may be various benefits in both approach, In my opinion, focusing on a particular subject is more beneficial than focusing on all.
Many students are exhausted from studying many topics only then to leave rest and specialize on one. This means they are taught to master all topics which not only takes a lot of time but it also makes studying unbearable for students. As a result, many students choose to drop out rather than going to school and even If a few go to university, most of them leave before they graduate. For example, Turkish exam called “YKS” include all sort of subjects like biology, literature, geography ,and to study in Turkey a student needs to achieve high score in all across the lessons. Because of this the students have a bad morale and naturally perform worse. Consequently, impacting negatively to national education system and students.
On the other hand, learning diverse topics can make a student a global citizen. By learning about history, geography, art, science one can increase themselves understanding of world and become a global citizen. Global citizens are important because they have a deep understanding of other cultures and possibly unite the world. A classic example would be international debates that global citizens participate. As a result of these discussions many global and domestic policies are being used. Moreover, may be in near future these policies can unite the world and bring peace.
In conclusion, both learning various topics and specializing on one have benefits, but I believe specializing is better. Simply because in modern societies specialization is more needed. Although, students can become global citizens, to run modern cities specializing is required.
