The diagrams illustrate changes to the library’s ground floor from 2001 to 2009.
Overall, the library underwent a number of dramatic transformation, the most important of which is the addition of book’s genre and the expansion of seating area.
Looking first at the western side, the left wall used to be a place for self-help and history books in 2001. However, these areas were reduced in size in order to make way for a wide range of new sections, including kitchen, economics, and law. This place also witnessed the relocation of the fiction section, from the north to the west of the room, while its initial corner was occupied by large tables.
Turning to the east of the room, films, and DVDs’ bookshelf replaced the previous newspaper and periodicals’ one. Opposite this new area was 4 long rows of tables, which were the alternative to 8 square desks in 2001. Additionally, there was a newly-built children’s area between the two seating areas. While the librarian’s desk and the staircase, which were adjacent to the entrance, remained unchanged, new computers were added to the library’s facility, located to the southeast of the room.
