Overall, all of the countries experienced the increase expecting for the Finland that witnessed a slight decrease throughout the given period. However, Finland and Denmark generally recorded the highest percentages whereas the United Kingdom and Germany remained the lowest in most years of the timespan.
In 1971, Finland had the highest renewable energy usage at around 24%, followed by Denmark (approximately 14%) and France (just under 10%). Meanwhile, Germany and the United States both started at less than 5%, and the United Kingdom had the lowest figure, nearly 0%. From 1971 to 2011, Denmark experienced a remarkable fluctuation, but generally increased to reach approximately 17% in 2011. By contrast, Finland declined slightly to just under 25% at the end of period.
Regarding the other nations, Germany and France showed a steady and significant rise, reaching both approximately 15% by 2011. Meanwhile, the United States fluctuated significantly before grew sharply to a high of approximately 18% and the United Kingdom witnessed a dramatic rise to above 5% in 2011.
