Some individuals argue that with the advance of technology, even though it brings lots of conveniences, it also potentially risks cultural identity. I firmly disagree with this statement and this essay will provide the reasons.
On the one hand, globalization encourages us to promote our categories and turn them into sufficient ones, which people can benefit from in various aspects, for instance, clothes are designed to be comfortable to wear, electronic devices are automated, and the appearance of canned food not only helps us save an enormous time, it also delicious and provides an adequate amount of necessary nutrition. Of that trend, our culture can customs such as traditional costumes and conventional dishes can be extinct due to the decline in frequent usage
On the other hand, mass communication can preserve a cultural identity in numerous ways. Initially, social media helps us to learn about a region’s culture by talking to people who come from these areas as online communication assists us in having conversations through distance. Besides, using tools that globalization has, cultural identity can be saved for centuries, for example, if the population records their dances, copies their books, and saves their knowledge in the online cloud, it will be safe and will not be either damaged or lost. For this reason, globalization may help in this task and has a lot of resources to make it easier.
To sum up, although globalization could bring some disadvantages, however, if we use it accurately, our traditional identity will not disappear.
