The line graph illustrates the number of users of fixed telephone lines, mobile phones, and the internet in China from 1994 to 2005.
Overall, all three types of communication services showed an upward trend throughout the period. While mobile phone usage experienced the most significant growth, internet usage remained the lowest among the three.
In 1994, both fixed telephone lines and mobile phone users were at low levels, below 10 million. The number of landline users increased steadily, reaching around 300 million by 2005. Mobile phone usage grew more slowly at first but started rising rapidly after 1998 and overtook landlines in 2003. By 2005, mobile phone users had reached about 420 million, the highest among the three.
The number of internet users began increasing after 1995. Though the growth was continuous, it was not as fast as the other two categories. By the end of the period, internet usage reached slightly over 100 million.
