The graph illustrates how popular five types of internet browsers are between 2011 and 2021.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that while Chrome has the highest market share, Opera is the least popular. Additionally, there are more changes in the first half of the period than the second half.
In the first five years (2011 to 2015), Chrome rose from just under 25% to over 50%, becoming the most popular web browser. Internet Explorer and Firefox shares decreased, with Internet Explorer decreasing faster and meeting Firefox at around 20%. Meanwhile, the other three browsers stayed relatively leveled, with Edge being around 0%, Opera aound 2%, and Safari around 5%.
In the second period (2016 to 2021), Chrome shares continues to increase until it reaches its peak at around 70% in 2019, and then dropped slightly to more or less 65% at the end of the period. Both Edge and Safari shares increased in this period by a slight percentage, with Edge increasing around 7% and Safari increasing around 5%. Firefox and Internet Explorer shares continue to drop until they reaches under 10%.
