The picture illustrates the car expenditure in China, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia from 1995 to 2005.
Overall, the most significant increase was seen in Indonesia through the 10 years. In contrast to this, Thailand saw the least growth. Furthermore, at the start Indonesia was recorded as spending the lowest money on cars but as time went on it surpassed Thailand and was almost similar towards the end.
Throughout the 10 years, China remained as the top spender in cars starting at 80 million dollars in 1995 and reaching close to 98 million dollars by 2005. However, it showed the least notable change with Indonesia showing the most. Initially, Indonesia had the lowest figures of 30 million dollars but eventually overtook Thailand in 2003. By the end, its expenditure was similar to Vietnam with just over 70 million dollars.
There were points in time when the money spent on cars was almost identical across countries. During 1997, 60 million dollars was spent in both Thailand and Vietnam while, in 2003 close to 60 million dollars was used to purchase cars in Thailand and Indonesia.
