The graph compares the quantities of goods transported in the UK over a period of 28 years by four different modes of transport.

It is clear that total amount off goods transported in th UK has increased consdierabely between 1974 and 2002. Major rise is in road transport.

In 1974, around 70 million tonnes of transport is done by road. Water and rail transport were equally resposible at start with around 40 million tones of goods, while goods transported through pipeline was around 5 million tonnes.

Goods transported by pipeline by end of period 2002 rised to around 20 million, a rise by around 12 million tonnes. While other modes of transport other than rail experienced the increase. Rail transport leveled 40 million tonnes by end of period 2002. While water transport saw a major increase by around 22 million tonnes reaching a peak of around 62 million tonnes. While road transport was still the leader and played masive role in UK’s transportation industry.
