Overall, in five countries, women consistently spent more time on household chores than men. The gender gap was the most significant in Italy and Japan, while Canada showed the smallest difference.
Regarding women, Italy recorded the highest average weekly hours at approximately 34 hours, followed by Japan at around 32 hours. Women in the UK and Canada also showed substantial time, averaging about 30 hours and 28 hours, respectively. Additionally, American women spend the least time among the five, with roughly 26 hours per week.
Concerning men, Canadian males spent the most time on household duties, with about 20 hours per week, followed by the USA (18 hours) and the UK (15 hours). Meanwhile, Japanese and Italian men spent noticeably less time on domestic tasks, comprising only about 12 and 10 hours weekly, respectively.
