The line graph shows the number of people who used different services to communicate in the world. Overall, cellular service started the period with almost the same number of users as other services, but overtook all other services at the end with a significant increase, while internet service also grew in the number of users over the period. It is also clear that other services such as mobile broadband, fixed broadband, and landline service experienced slight changes.
In 1998, the number of internet service users was around 5 million, while for landline service it was noticeably higher at approximately 15 million. During the period, both figures followed an increasing trend, while landline service users reached 20 million before decreasing to just 15 million at the end of the period; however, the number of people who used internet service marginally increased from 2004 and reached a peak of 20 million.
Furthermore, figures for fixed and mobile broadband showed fewer changes compared to other community services, and while both figures had zero users until 2004, after 2004, figures started to rise and finished the period at a similar number, around 5 million.
In contrast, the service that showed the most significant increase was cellular phone service. In the beginning, it had around 5 million users, and year by year it continued to rise consistently, and in the final year, the number of people who used that service was 60 million.
