Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that spending habits of people in UK significantly changed compare with past. Previuosly, food was the largest category, while computer had the smallest proportion of spending on goods. In marked contrast, after three decades, the most common thing was cars.
In 1971, the most common people goods was food with 44%, following by cars with 22%. In contrast, in 2001 cars become the category with the largest proportion of expenditure at over 43%, following by food with 14%
In the past, spending on restaurant was one of the smallest category with 7%. However, this data had increased to 14% in 2001. Proportion of spending on furniture unchanged in general, while books and computers sections changed a lot. In 1971, computer was the smallest category with 2%, following by books with 6%. In marked contrast, in 2001 books become the most smallest category with 1%, while percentage of computer had increased to 12%
