It is strongly believed that children do not need to go to school because they can acquire knowledge from the Internet and home. I partly disagree with this opinion for some reasons.
On one hand, children should go to school because it presents children with significant benefits. First, school supports children in learning effectively with a disciplined and structured learning environment. Schools, with rules and well-constructed curriculums can help students to absorb appropriate knowledge in appropriate time and time-saving ways by providing concentration and a well-constructed curriculum, meaning students can avoid distractions they might encounter when learning at home or through the Internet. Additionally, learning at school gives students chances to develop social interaction skills. At school, they have to work with a lot of people, including teachers and peers, which requires them to talk and communicate to express themself or show what they want. In the long run, students can both acquire their hard skills from the knowledge learned at schools and soft skills from interactions with others.
On the other hand, learning from the Internet and home could bring several benefits. The internet, with instant feedback, can help students access documents easily, saving their learning time. For example, if a student wants to get feedback for their essay, they have to wait for several days. But with the development of technology, they can ask for instant feedback without waiting a long time. However, the majority of students are not mature and self-controlled enough to avoid digital distractions, leading to adverse results such as digital addiction or concentration loss.
In conclusion, school is pivotal to students because it provides an appropriate environment and skill to students. The Internet, meanwhile, can bring benefits but pose risks that need more adults’ supervision.
