The line graph illustrates the percentage of tourists to Scotland who visited different attractions from 1980 to 2010. Units are measured in percentages.
Overall, it is obvious that the figures for castle and zoo increased throughout the period in question, while those for aquarium and festival decreased. It is also worth noting that the proportion of castle rose much faster than other attractions, and it was the most popular place between 1985 and 2010. Although the share of zoo increased over the period, it was the least popular feature among tourists, yet it overtook aquarium and festival facilities afterward.
Focusing on features which rose over the period, the proportion of castle stood at roughly 23% in 1980, before experiencing the most dramatic rise to 45% in 1995, however it slipped to about 35% by 2000. Interestingly, this proportion remained stable by the final year. Turning to zoo, the share started at 10% and fluctuated between 15% and 9%, ending at its initial point in 2000. Notably, it peaked at just below 25% in 2010.
As for other options which witnessed a decline, the figure for festival experienced consistent decline, began at 30% and dropped to about 20% in 2010. In 1980, the percentage of aquarium was 20%, before rocketing to 35% in 1985. However, it plummeted to its initial point 5 years later, yet its popularity surged afterwards, hitting around 25% in 1995. Remarkably, this percentage experienced a moderate fall to 10% by the end of the period.
