Band 5+: Some people believe that modern technology is making people more sociable, while others think it is making them less sociable.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is a school of thought that the ability of human beings to socialize with others is improved with technologically advanced applications and features, while the opponents think that it can negatively affect society. Personally, I will discuss both opinions before presenting my perspective on this matter.

On the one hand, there are several reasons that explain why using technology can improve our ability to socialize. In the past, it was hard for people to maintain their social relationships due to the lack of effective communication methods, geographical locations as major factors. However, with the development of technology until now, scientists yield numerous social nets, which make a big change in society, as an easier way for people to connect with others or possible for communicating everywhere and everywhen. Thus, the fences of communication are broken out, resulting in the convenience for people to socialize. According to a report of a global entertainment’s project in 2012, when countries approached the Internet on society, there was an increase of social accounts that connected with others from various regions, making the social circles expanded to an international level, thanks to the technology.

On the other hand, opponents of previous views think that high-tech devices can damage the structure of society. Nowadays, In order to maintain the high quality of relationships, each individual needs to spend a lot of time and effort on people, not only sharing or chatting everyday, but also physical meetings, having emotional exchanges and regular conversations. In contrast, when people socialize with others depending on technology, especially due to social media platforms, they can lose many opportunities to experience a real-setting communication. Moreover, whenever some problems about the relationships happen, technology is not a suitable choice for healing it, even making the issues dramatically. This is why some social relations can be affected badly when using high-tech devices.

In conclusion, although there are mixed opinions on determining the impacts on human beings with technology, I totally believe that the opposite view is dominant as the benefits of direct interactions.
