Many KFUPM preparatory year students want to purchase a device to help them with their upcoming courses. The most commonley used devices are laptops and taplets, which leaves preparatory year students confused about which device to buy. To determine which device is most advantageos for these students, two principle factors should be considered: cost and the major.
One key factor a student should take into account when buying a device is the cost. Laptops are usually more expensive than tablets, due to the durability. Tablets are not robus devices, and often have to be replaced every 4 years, by contrast laptops can withstand up to 7 years .For KFUPM students, who will study for approximetly 5 years, laptops are perhaps a better selection because they have more extended lifespan in comparison to tablets.
Another major factor to select the most suitable device for the mentioned students is the study field. KFUPM has variety majors, and each of them has its courses. Most of students have engineering and computing courses that need a complex programs and applications, which need a powerful software, available on laptops, whereas tablets are not designed for this type of usage.
Ultimitly, with respect to cost and major, there are notable differences between tablets and laptops. Laptops have greater durability, despite the considerable difference in price, and they are designed for complex programs. Tablets are a cheaper alternative, but they do not have strong software. For engineering students, laptops are a more helpful choice, because they more durable and students can upload and use the coput computationally intensive programs.
