Overall, waste handled by landfills is highest compared to all other methods in all countries except for the Netherlands.
The highest percentage of waste handled by landfill is in the UK at around 65%. Italy and Spain show the same figure for this with 40% each. Whereas the Netherlands has the lowest percentage of waste managed by landfill than other methods in the country. The Netherlands topped at dealing with waste by recycling just below 70%. This figure for Spain and the UK remains almost the same just above 10%.
Waste use as chemicals in Italy, Spain and the UK has shown an equal amount of percentage at approximately 15%, while this is slightly less in the Netherlands, around 12%. Spain peaked in terms of burning waste with 30% more than other countries, the reverse is true for the UK with around 3%. Netherlands and Italy deal with waste by burning with 10% and 22%, respectively.
