Around the world, there are many co-educational institutions where male and female students study together. It is often said that it would be much better for the pupils if the classes were distiguished instead of mixed. This essay, however disagrees to this view as I think co-educational schools provide a lot of positive reinforcements and teach the students to deal with people better.
Firstly, studying with opposite sex can provide motivations to the students that can lead to a healthy competition. Often, just to impress a classmate of opposite sex, students can concetrate more on their studies. For Instance, a male student can try to come up with a creative idea to solve a problem with the hope that, it would impress a female. Moreover, we see better result and growth of the students in a co-ed studies than the other, overall. One primary reason behind it could be the natural attraction between the peers. It can be a strong positive reinforcement to their studies, that eventually motivates the pupils to be more determined and hard-working. Hence, co-ed studies can help students to be better at their studies.
Secondly, it can help students to be confident and grow a sense of respect when dealing with people, especially the opposite gender. Many students, who study in a single sex educational institution, often find it difficult when it comes to public speaking, due to being introvert. For example, it has been seen that many students from Notre Dame College, Dhaka, which is a college where only male students can study, often find difficulties after getting admitted to universities, as they then have to deal with both male and female peers and teachers. For this reason, many can’t cope up with it very well. Moreover, students in a mixed sex insitutions can grow respect toward opposite sex while talking or dealing with them. It creates a congenial environment which can influence a lot of people going forward.
In conclusion, studying with the peers of opposite gender can be a very fruitful way of learning, as it teaches them respect, and friendlyness, as well as motivates them to be better at study.
