Overall, over the period IT industry and service industry saw increases of varying degrees. In addition, with the former seeing the biggest percentage change.
The rates of IT industry to the UK’s Gross Domestic Product contributed consistently higher figures. Starting at just 6% in 1992, the percentage of the IT industry experienced a minimal increase to almost 8% in 1996. Eventually, the contribution of the IT industry rose steadily, reaching approximately 15% in 2000.
By contrast, the service industry had relatively smaller figures. The input of the service industry to Gross Domestic Product started at just 4% in 1992, a figure that then went up gradually to about 7% in 1996. By 2000, the percentage of the Service industry had increased slightly from approximately 7% to 8%.
