First of all, London railway system that opened in 1863 with 394 kilometres is longer than Paris underground railway, having 199 kilometres. However, the latter has higher passengers at about 1191 million compared to 775 million users in London. Besides, Tokyo that only has 155 kilometres is the most used, with 1927 million passengers per year.
According to three newer networks, Washington DC is the dominant system with 144 million passengers, compared to Kyoto and Los Angeles, 45 and 50 million, respectively. Additionally, the system is also responsible for the most extensive route, with 126 kilometres, while Kyoto accounts for the shortest route, with 11 kilometres.
