The table below provides a comparision of water consumption across four countries among three main purposes including domestic use, industry, and agriculture.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the largest water consumer in both Canada and New Zealand are industry while agricultural record the largest portion of water supplying in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Regarding Egypt, agriculture was witnessed as the highest percentage of water utilizing, accounting for 82%, while both industry and domestic purposes both stood at below 10%, which were 10% and 8%, respectively. A relatively similar pattern could be constitued in Saudi Arabia, as industry usage contributed 30%, which was more than five times the figure for domestic purposes with 6%. The remaining region in Saudi Arabia, which was agriculture was recorded comparable proportion in water consumption at 64%.
In contrast, Canada distributed most of its water utilization for industry purposes, which was 70% and more than triple the percentage for residental usage and seven times higher than that for agriculture using. In term of New Zealand, industry and agriculture had relatively similar shares, at approximately 45% apiece, while the percentage allotted for domestic consumption was only 10%, which was the smallest proportion of water usage.
