The table shows how much time was spent for leisure activities by both genders (male, female) while the bar chart illustrates the amount of time that was allocated on house chores in Britain. Units are measured by minutes.
Overall, while tv, video, and radio were the most demanding activities chosen by both males and females, the reverse was true for sports activities. Of particular note is that women spent notably much more time in all the housework than men, with the exception of repairing stuff.
In detail, the most popular free time activity was spending time on watching television, videos or listening to radios among men and women respectively, spending 137 and 118. It was closely followed by reading, where women spend one more minute (19 minutes) on reading than men. As for physical activities, on average, men spend a quarter of an hour on sports whereas it is only 11 minutes for women.
Focusing on the bar chart, it is worth noting that women spend remarkably more time on housework. In contrast, for washing and cooking females spend around 78 minutes daily which is around 42 minutes more than their counter genders. While shopping takes around 38 minutes every day for women, men spend just 24 minutes. Although, for washing clothes and ironing them women allocated noticeably more time than men respectively 28 and 9, repairing items was the only activity that men spend more on than women with just below 20 minutes.
