The diagram illustrates the amount of individuals taking part in four various kinds of sports – basketball, tennis, badminton, and rugby in a certain city from 1985 to 2005.
Overall, it is clear that, while the number of people playing rugby recorded a significant growth, the same was reverse for tennis. In contrast, the figure for those taking part in basketball and badminton, in turn, remained stable over 20-year period.
In 1985, the number of people involved in rugby and tennis was on the leading position, at almost 250 and 150, respectively. However after, the number of individuals taking part in tennis started drop, equaling with rugby players in 1995, which figure was rising, and witnessed a dramatic decline at the end of 2005, down to 50, equalizing with the number of badminton players.
Whereas, the number of individuals taking part in tennis experienced a steady growth, reaching its peak at almost 240 participants and taking the lead, by 2005.
When it comes to badminton and basketball, the number of players was stable throughout the whole period, by 50 and 75, respectively.
