In contemporary society, whether cultural activities should be funded by the governments or private entities and children’s families is an ongoing debate. While some advocate that a government-funded artistic curriculum can precipitate socioeconomic and educational benefits, others argue that private funding ensures both quality and choices. This essay aims to elaborate on these two viewpoints and express my own perspective.
Proponents of government financing believe that it grants children, regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds, access to artistic subjects. This policy can foster social inclusivity and dismantle the wealth gap, ensuring that individuals have equal access to artistic pursuits. For example, high tuition fees associated with these subjects may deter some underprivileged families from investing, potentially depriving their children of cultural pursuits and personal growth. As a result, subsidizing cultural activities can dismantle this financial barrier, enabling disadvantaged individuals to pursue their interests. Moreover, public investment in arts can foster a holistic education, allowing students to cultivate a broader range of artistic skills that go beyond rudimentary subjects. Hence, this approach can enhance a more well-educated workforce, thereby stimulating economic growth and innovation.
However, private funding can ensure the top-quality education. First, private entities provide children with some state-of-the-art lessons, leading to optimal results. Thanks to increased capital accumulation, private businesses can pool resources, paving the way for the organization of classes tailored to diverse needs. For instance, some private artistic centers capitalize on the combined subsidy from other organizations to elevate the quality of their classes. Therefore, they can hire professional instructors and organize state-of-the-art training programs, empowering children to gain access to higher quality of education and acquire the most reliable knowledge. Addtitonally, family investment in children’s artistic pursuits nurtures their artistic talents. A supportive environment, coupled with financial and sentimental support can lead to higher engagement and better outcomes.
