The pie charts compare the statistical intake of food in four categories worldwide and in two major countries in 2008.
The charts give a clear idea of the popularity of processed food all over the world, making up 41%. Following this, China and India consumed the most processed food, accounting for 32% and 39% respectively. The second most consumed food was vegetables and fruits. China took first place, making up more than a third (32%), meanwhile, Indians ate a bit less than a quarter (23%). Vegetables and fruits were consumed in the amount of 29% globally.
Animal food was the least eaten category in China, but India accounted for 27%, making this figure the second most popular in the aforementioned country. Worldwide, animal food constituted almost a quarter. Nuts and seeds were the least common worldswhide and in India, comprising 4% and 11% accordingly. Meanwhile, China accounted for almost a fifth (19%).
Overall, processed food accounts for the largest proportion in all three charts, while nuts and seeds make up the smallest share.
