This graph illustrates the average food consumption of people worldwide, comparing it with two densely populated Asian countries. It compares the percentages of three different food categories, along with one category of processed food made out of the three different food categories.
The percentage of processed foods consumed worldwide is more than two-fifths of overall food consumption. On the other hand, this figure is less than two-fifths in the two major Asian countries, China and India. Additionally, the consumption of vegetables and fruits is also below two-fifths globally, including in China and India.
Animal food consumption is higher worldwide, with India following similar trends, whereas China’s consumption is lower, being less than one-fifth of its total food intake. Lastly, the consumption rate of nuts and seeds is the lowest globally, including China and India, although it is slightly higher in China, as nuts and seeds are rich in protein and are not recommended for excessive consumption.
