The bar chart illustrates the percentage of Australian boys and girls aged 5 to 14 who participate in five different leisure activities.
Overall, watching TV or videos is the most popular activity among both genders, while art and craft is the least preferred by boys. In most activities, boys participate more than girls, except in art and craft where girls show a noticeably higher level of involvement.
Watching TV or videos is clearly the dominant activity for both boys and girls, with participation rates reaching 100%. Electronic or computer games are also popular, attracting around 80% of boys and slightly over 60% of girls. A similar pattern is seen in bike riding, where approximately 70% of boys take part compared to about 60% of girls.
In contrast, skateboarding or rollerblading is less common, with just under 40% of boys and about 25% of girls participating. The only activity in which girls outperform boys is art and craft: roughly 60% of girls engage in this activity, in comparison with only about 35% of boys.
